Hot Vette 72 Air conversion THermo limiter

A conversion was supposidly done on the car but it has never worked and I'm trying to figure out what is missing and why. Not sure how much of the conversion actually took place so I'm going to take it a little at a time. Finding out he didn't do as much of anything he said he did.
The compressor he installed is an apco 50-007 it has wires that go to a connector 3 prong which according to the old shop manual was the thermo limiter. THis is no longer there so the connector goes to nothing.
Does the new Compressor work with the old thermo limiter or is that supposed to be replace in a conversion with something else?
I looked at the kits and they have a binary safety switch instead. Is this because of the upgraded compressor? Is that what I should try?
