Why does my 1973 Stingray swim?

Post by acmechris » Jan 21st, 2015 8:05 pm

Hello.....I am a proud new owner of a 1973 Stingray and a retired auto mechanic/painter. One of my jobs was that of a "front end" mechanic so I feel that as a trouble shooter that I should understand why my stock ( I detect a cam and it has headers and mags with large tires/wheels) 1973 350 automatic Stingray pushes or swims. It has power steering and the man I bought it from had put on headers and 15 by 10 mag wheels with masive 235/60's and 245/60's. The frame looks clean and good. The tires are new and not over/under inflated. It has some new bushings and ball joints. It has not been on a aligment rack by me but it does drive straight and does not pull. Were these set up with negitave caster? It does not drive like other corvettes that I have driven in that there is not much feel of the road. Thank you, acmechris
