RB Thanks for the responce. My shop is 28x36 equal to a 3 car garage. The compressor(60 gal 5hp) is out side, inside what resembles a water closet attached to the shop. A rubber aair line enters the shop in this corner and is 1/2 in.The line goes to a wall mounted filter/reg where i connect air lines for the shop via the floor. rapid air offers 100 foot 3/4in or 1/2 in kits. The line from compressor to reg is 1/2 in i dont see where 3/4in kit would help downstream from the 1/2 in line,any thought. I may be making this harded than need be, but i hate finishing a project wishing i had done it differently. Thanks again.

large airline to smaller is okay, small to larger is a no no. you will loose your pressure. if I can find my TAB books I can show you in a duct system what will happen.

Vito is correct. To show this, the equation for the continuity of fluid flow may be used. This equation is based on an incompressible fluid, and for what we are discussing, the air can be considered as incompressible because we are not compressing it. The equation states that in two parts of a fluid system, P1*V1*A1*R1/T1 = P2*V2*A2*R2/T2 where P is pressure, A is area, V is velocity, R is density and T is temperature. For this condition, we can state that the pressure, temperature and density will not change. If you go from a large hose to a small hose with no change in temperature, pressure or density, the area will go down, therefore the velocity of the fluid must go up by the same proportional amount, or the air velocity will increase, making your tool run faster. However, if you go from a small hose to a large hose, the area in the downstream hose is larger, so the velocity of the air will decrease by the same proportional amount as the increase in area, and your tool will run slower.

Thanks again guys, 1/2 in black pipe it is the bung in the compressor is 1/2 in i purchased a 1/2 reg/filter from northern tools and will run 1/2 black pipe to point of use.
The weather is warm now so it is time to start painting after air line project. The car was original ontario orange but this has a metalic and is not that good looking. Daytona yellow or safari yellow are more than likely to be the color. I like the war bonett fire mist but could grow old on me.

P.S.FYI I attented a car show this weekend(California) was told that DMV and CHP staff were walking around and cheaking VIN # and for smog devices that were removed. Cal doesn't have a smog test on 75 or older cars but it is still agains't the law to remove them. If any paper is issued at a car show by them this will change shows as we know them. I,m not trying to get political but this is the home of J Brown,Arnold,Nancy,Barbara,Diana The 3 wicked witches of the west .
