Tyflon Tape and Studs

Before I forget. I was talking with my old auto shop teacher about mounting the bumpers. From what he is hearing is that folks are now using tyflon tape on the bolt threads. This helps with removing them 20 years from now. Also recommends that we treat the back sides of the bumpers. This is because we normally don't wash that area and it helps with rust prevention.

Before I put my seats back in the car, I used studs instead of bolts to hold the seats in place. This is beause you won't have to worry about getting them out again. Just unscrew the nuts from inside.

Interesting ideas, Vito. I've been using a little bit of anti-seize on bolts I suspect may be hard to remove later down the line. I think there was originally a small rubber pad that went between the bumper brackets and the body. I plan to fabricate something from some rubber when I do the final mounting of my bumpers. The last thing I want to do is end up with a hard spot that results in cracked fiberglass.

Zip Corvette has rubber washers for this. They are called Bumper paint savers pn BU-492 $7.95 a set. I used them on mine but don't over tighten the bolts.
