Thanks for the feedback gents! Still knee deep in removing everything from the body, but once it is done I can't wait to see what lays under the paint on the exterior in these areas. :ack:

Two long years later, but finally another milestone... paint removal is complete :Hurray: By far my least favorite part of the whole process to this point. I've updated my blog at https://1972corvetterestomod.blogspot.com/ so if you get a chance to check it out please do. With the paint off the body the suspicious spots I mentioned last time really showed their true nature... I have lots of fiberglass repair in my future! In particular what are your thoughts on the front end? I think the rear repairs should go ok, but the front end looks worse... would you recommend repairing what I have or just getting a whole new front clip? What would be the easiest for this rookie to tackle? Thanks!

I have flashbacks looking at this post - looks like much of what I found on my own car. Unfortunately, paint can hide a lot of ills from past owners. Luckily, fiberglass repairs are pretty easy to complete, you just need to have patience. I'll also add that using quality materials makes a big difference. They may cost more, but it'll save you time and effort in the end (at least it did for me).

I have no doubt it'll come out great in the end - good luck!
