- Tell us about your Corvette: 1971 Convertible, 454/365hp, Automatic, I just boutght it and am starting a frame off restoration.

It depends on your method of application and number of coats. I did two coats each of POR-15 and Chassis Black and applied all coats with a brush. To do the chassis and suspesion components a quart of each is probably sufficient. If you plan to spray, be sure to by extra - a lot of it will be wasted because you can't control the thikcness of application as easily (it goes on thicker than needed when trying to get into all the nooks and crannys of the frame) and some is also wasted due to overspray. Brushing it on is more time consuming, but I found it to be very effective.jhead9 wrote:After looking at the pictures and description of the chassis restoration on this site, I think I will use the Por 15 chemicals and paints. rbryce1 wrote:Make sure you clean the metal extremely well. I painted my engine with POR-15, and if any oil residue at all is present, the POR-15 will not stick. I followed another shops recommendation to use Brake-Clean on it as well, this worked even better that the POR chemicals.
