lower windshield birdcage repair

I have a 69 vette that is fully torn down and am doing the modifications to the birdcage like shown here. The question I have is that like the project car, I purchased the lower outside windshield frame from a 72 vette which is slightly different - but exactly the same as the work shown here. My question is that when I purchased these the company told me that I had to modify for the wiper door clearance and so my question is.... I see the modifications that were done on this site, can anyone confirm that the mods shown on this site worked and that the clearance issue was addressed ?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I can't comment on your 69 but on my 71 I modified some lower corners from a 73. I have my wiper door back in place now and no conflict exists.

I'm not familiar with the differences with the wiper door between 69 and 71 so unfortunately I can't comment on that. Maybe you can do a search on e-bay or something to find some photos of a 69 lower corner. Any big differences should be obvious in the photos.

I just looked on ebay and it looks like the lower corners listed as fitting a 72 would also be direct replacements for a 69. Check this out:

You may want to try and verify this through a few other sources though

Thanks for the info. I think I am good to go - did a trial fit this weekend and am comparing the "new" pass side with the "old " drivers side I think it's pretty close. I started off the weekend pretty pumped, I have finihed off all the fiberglassing of the firewall ( I think they ran over a rock substantial damage) unfortunately I was off a bit with the floor to firewall lips and have a 1/4 inch gap on the drivers side........ time to pull out the grinder again..... gotta love the smell of resin!!

Glad to hear it's coming along, I'm sure you'll find all kinds of hidden little surprises as you work your way through the project. I sure did!

If you get a chance post a few pics of your handiwork - I'm curious to see how it all came out!
