As soon I can figure out how to upload a picture I'll link it in here
I think the 600# is for the stripped down body (no interior at all) but I can't recall for sure. With the interior you'd definitely be pushing 1,000#. When I lifted mine (which was totally stripped out) I'm guessing it was somewhere between 500 and 750 pounds.2manyVettes wrote:Someone mentioned previously that a 'vette body weighed about 600 lbs. Not so sure about that. I have had a complete 350 & trans hung on this hoist and up as high as this body was, and this body was definitely heavier. A 350 minus headers weighs in at around 600 lbs, AT is probably another 250.
Before I pulled this body, I saw in a forum somewhere that a complete body minus hood was in the 1000 - 1100 lb range. Based on the way my hoist was behaving I'd say that's closer to a real number. My hoist is one of the older models rated at 1,000 lb fully extended (4,000 retracted) and it took some muscle to pump the jack, so I'm going with 1,000 lb+. If you pulled the glass, dash, master cylinder, radiator and everything else under the hood (that I didn't remove), it might be closer to that 600# just for the body shell.
