Glad you (and the garage and vette) faired well through the storm. I remember those post typhoon days on Okinawa and I do NOT miss them!

Glad to hear the garage made it through, Vito. It's too bad not everyone was as fortunate.

How high were the wind speeds when it made landfall?

A few pictures from the base. They had to rescue are security folks that refused to leave their post. Not that you could drive to them anyway.

Note that the roof of the facility is about 14 feet tall. The winds weren't as bad as the one two years ago, but holy chit on the amount of rain that we got. It caused a lot of flooding around the island and roadslides.

Damn, that's a lot of water! Was it from a storm surcharge, or just rainfall?

Tim,

A combination of both. The island got hit pretty hard with rain. Land slides all over and rivers over flowing. I can imagine with all the heat now and the soil drying out that the next one will be just as bad. At lot of roads had to close because they were under water :willy:

Vito,

I hope you didn't get any damage from the latest typhoon. It's too bad those airmen were swept out to sea, but I wonder what the heck they were doing out there in the first place? Hopefully others will learn from their mistake and not try to take close-ups of an angry sea. I hope they find them before that next storm heading your way hits...

Paul,

They found the last Airman this afternoon. They guys were here TDY and not assigned to the base. We also lost a Japanese female. We got the outer portion of the storm. Not bad by any means but didn't go near the ocean.

This weekend will be the same. We are expecting the outer portion to hit us. No worries, got some cold beer and a nice garage now :D

Cheers

Vito

Just read online about the latest super typhoon heading your way. Hopefully it weakens before landfall and doesn't make a direct hit. This one looks nasty! :willy:

Tim,

Every day it is getting a bit closer. Looks like the strongest wing gusts are only 90 knots :ack: I hope we don't get rain like the last one :willy:

Batten down the hatches and good luck...

PS Do you have a generator in the spiffy new garage to keep the beer cold and run your stereo and tools if the regular power goes out?
