Forum Log-in Issues

Hi all,

I've received reports that some members are having logging into the forum.

If you're having trouble logging into the forum could you please try the following two steps to resolve the issue?

1. Clear your internet browsing cache/history. Instructions on how to do so on each type of device and browser can be found at this link: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-clear-cache-2617980

2. If you still cannot log on I suggest using the password reset option. You should receive an e-mail fairly quickly. If you don't see anything please check your spam folder.

3. If all else fails please e-mail me at webmaster@corvette-restoration.com and I'll do my best to help you out. And, if you can log in, please let me know that too - either send me an e-mail or reply to this post. I'm trying to determine how widespread this problem is and I haven't been able to get a clear handle on it yet.

Thanks for everyone's patience as I work through this issue.

Tim

Tim,
Here's an update.

I have tried every way I can think of to get Chrome to allow me to log into the forum, but it still will not. I even reloaded Chrome to no avail. Cleared all cache, cleared all temp files, cleared all Chrome remembered passwords.

Internet Explorer works fine. I don't use any other browsers, so I don't know if there is this issue with any of those.

I also remember that I could not email you using the webmaster form on the forum, as it kept saying it was an invalid form, which was why I asked Vito to relay an email to you. Is that still an issue?

Thanks for the update Bob. I'm really sorry you're having these issues.

With respect to Chrome, I wonder if it has something to do with the password vault it uses. It seems like reinstalling Chrome would resolve that but I suppose you never know. Maybe you could try opening an "incognito tab" by hitting Ctrl+Shift+N and logging in under the incognito window. If you're able to log in using an incognito tab it would indicate there's some stored password issue going on.

Have you tried changing your password using the "forgot password" link? I wonder if that would resolve the issue? Also, you might want to try using google's "incognito tab"

Thankfully, I was able to resolve the e-mail / user registration / change password issue you noted. There was an incorrect mail server setting. I've fixed that so it should be working now (I verified the board can send e-mails, send password reset e-mails, and register new users).

Bob,

I made an update to the boards cookie settings. Can you give it another shot logging in with Chrome?

What ever Tim did, I can now log into the forum with both IE and Chrome. Thanks.

Vito is back on site now.

Hopefully it is not a probationary period :D

Hey guys, super glad to see that whatever the issue is has worked itself out. To be honest, I still have no idea what the issue was. :skep:

But, I suppose the important thing is that the issue seems to be resolving itself.

And no worries, Vito - no probationary period! :D
