Re: Sandblasting Equipment

Well, I am almost finished with the sand blasting. The frame is already completed and powder coated, and I am only sand blasting the exterior sides of the firewall and the complete underside of the body, in preparation for the exterior coatings of Lizard Skin. Don't really need to apply it on the ex...

Re: Sandblasting Equipment

Getting ready to clean the underside and rear portions of the body to prep for the exterior coatings of Lizard Skin Ceramic and I have the sand blaster ready to go. Never blasted except in a cabinet. What did you use for a face mask and breathing filters, and just how much protective clothing did yo...

Re: Hand laid, Press moulded or SMC

I am using almost totally epoxy. The bonding ability of epoxy to connect anything to anything is light years above polyester resins. It is one thing to connect two original parts, but for any repair requiring strength and bonding, the difference in price (about 2-3 times as much) is not only worth i...

Re: Hand laid, Press moulded or SMC

What is the difference between Press molded fiberglass and SMC and there for the use of addhesives? Sheet Molded Compound (or SMC) fiberglass is a polyester-based composite material used in the manufacturing of automobiles, personal watercraft and industrial equipment. These types of pieces are mad...

Re: Insulation / Sound Dampening

Yes, I have installed both the sound coating and the ceramic heat shield. Each coating is the thickness of a credit card (minimum, you can you on more if you desire for better results). I laid the sound coating on sort of thick, but put the normal amount of ceramic. I intend to coat the exterior wit...

Re: Insulation / Sound Dampening

Here are the photos of the Lizard Skin Sound Control. It initially goes on sort of spattery, but flows out somewhat. http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab80/rbryce1/Windshield%20%20Body%20and%20Firewall/09-29-10001-640x480.jpg http://i851.photobucket.com/albums/ab80/rbryce1/Windshield%20%20Body%20a...

Re: Insulation / Sound Dampening

Sprayed the Lizard Skin Sound Control to the interior of my 68 over the weekend. So far, I am greatly impressed with the product. Came out great. It was a lot easier to apply than I thought. Since it is all waterbased, just needed water to clean up everything. I will post photos of the Sound Control...

Re: 1971 Windshield Frame

My lower drivers side corner was rusted through the outside only and I simply cleaned it completely and filled the entire corner with Superbond from Fiberglass Coatings. It is an epoxy fiberglass filling compound that flows like Vasoline and bonds to literally anything and holds. Was able to shape i...

Re: 1971 Windshield Frame

I did find a company selling new lower corners, but they were not for pre 73. They said they were going to have them soon, but not yet. If you still need it, somewhere I have the web site for a company in California who has hundreds of bird cages for sale, and I think he sells the windshield frames ...
