Re: Project update

How's your project coming along Mainvette? Almost near completion it seems?

Re: welding frame seams?

thanks... I've decided to go ahead and do the skip welds. Figured I might as well get at them now while I can. It's been slow going lately, but have the gussets done now and just flipped the frame over to do the skip welds on the bottom. Hope to get them done this weekend, and then the plan is to se...

welding frame seams?

When doing the frame repair & strengthening, did you also weld in the frame seams in the areas skipped over at the factory? Why or why not?

Thanks

Re: Lift Off! My 1972 Resto-Mod Begins

I might regret it later, but I think I am going to try to do it myself. Worried they won't do as good a job as I would like especially in all of the nooks and crannies, etc. Did you attempt to blast inside the frame rails where reachable?

moving frame in/out of garage advice needed

Any tricks for moving stripped down frame in/out of the garage for cleaning, etc other than bribing some friends with beer? Too heavy for my son & I to safely move by ourselves.

Yes, took your advice in the plans and braced laterally by using my garage door supports as well. Worked great!

Re: 71 Convertible - Body Brace? BOdy lift support?

I used Mainevette's lifting rack and it worked like a charm on my '72 coupe. Had to add some x-bracing on the sides because my rack started shifting forward during the lift and that tightened it right up. Two chain falls off the 4" x 4" lifting beam... the one in front hooked with straps to the fron...

Re: Lift Off! My 1972 Resto-Mod Begins

That sounds about right vito. I also discovered a cable bolted to each under body seat belt mounting plate that looped through a bracket on the frame I. I might try to make my own checklist complete with pics someday. It definitely helped to take the body lift a couple inches at a time and keep rech...

Re: Lift Off! My 1972 Resto-Mod Begins

No tank sticker... was hoping to find one too! :bawl: Couple unusual things. The body removal checklist I found on this site mentions a ground strap on the left front body mount, but I did not see one... and there was a schrader fitting near the rear license plate I hadn't noticed before with air li...
