Sticky door catches

Hi, my door mechanisms require some tlc. I am planning to dismantle, clean and reassemble. Does anyone have recommendations for parts to replace or any specific procedures to follow? While it is all apart are there any recommendations for maintenance on the windows? (Manual winders). Windows have al...

Re: 1969 Tri-Power

Over tightening of the hold down bolts bends quadrajets, especially if a cheapo gasket is used. I wonder if this is the same problem for your setup?

Re: Replacing engine mounts

Looks like the smoke was a lump of grease off the clutch linkage falling onto the exhaust

Re: Best parts supplier(s)?

Bought a 72' factory assembly manual from amazon. It turned out to be a corvette America item. Unsurprisingly it was of very poor quality. It looked like a photocopy of a photocopy. Not even the pre punched holes lined up. How that company stays in business I have no idea. Avoid them like the plague!

Re: Replacing engine mounts

Green hills is what tasie has over WA, oysters the size of your fist, tap water that could be bottled and sold in WA. Great views, switchback mountain roads (WA roads are more likely to disappear over the horizon than turn a corner) shame the corvette is not here! Targa Tasmania kicks off shortly af...

Re: Replacing engine mounts

So transmission and engine mount replaced without too much drama. Engine mounts were the prothane units - no obvious interlocking mechanism. Vibration when pulling away was gone so initially very happy. Left vehicle idling in driveway for ten minutes while I locked the house before going for a longe...

Re: Replacing engine mounts

I shall probably end up using the jib type engine hoist with the two legs that are positioned under the vehicle.

Will i be able to position the hoist to one side or will it have to go at the front (requiring removal of hood)

Re: Replacing engine mounts

The thought about vibration came from having had the engine mounts on the family hatchback recently replaced. Vibration when pulling away had become noticeable and new engine mounts fixed it. The Corvette is similar when pulling away. I might try using jacks under the engine to avoid sourcing an eng...

Re: Replacing engine mounts

Just as well to replace transmission mounts at the same time?
