Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

:D Hope you have a nice strong wall onto which you bang your head... :D Yes, heavily reinforced! :D :D I decided to just turn in the plates for the '68, even if they didn't issue a letter for it. Getting a new plate is easy and I don't need to worry about it. So now, I have the '65 and the '01 regi...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Just had an interesting run-in with Florida DMV!! I received a letter saying if I did not put insurance back on my 65 Corvette, I would lose my driver's license. :ack: After looking into it, when I dropped the insurance coverage with Classic Collectables on both the 65 and the 68 and re-insured them...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Well, enough of my 1995 and 2001 Corvettes, and the hurricane as well. Back to my 1965 vette. Made the final decision on the painter about 2 weeks ago. I was able to put enough money away to cover the extra costs included in Ace's Auto Body's estimate. About 3 weeks ago I called them 3 times ...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Wow, if I did not have the problems I had getting my Corvette into Jamison's Corvette in Charleston and Aces Body Shop in Melbourne, it would be in serious danger right now. Sure hope they make it through this, but also glad my car is not there right now.

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

A quick update ... Damn I wish it would stop raining!! We have had rain EVERY DAY now for the past month! Right now it is POURING outside, thunder, lightning and rain. Does not do this all day, but sometimes 20 minutes, sometimes 3 hours, but enough of the day, every day, and most times, several tim...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Here is an embarrassing story. We decided to take the 2001 Corvette for a ride. Had a little over 1/4 tank of gas, so I thought I would burn most of it and top off the tank with ethanol free gas. We drove all around the beaches and just before getting home, I pulled into the gas station, with a litt...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Two big things for me. Two weeks ago, I put the '95 Corvette into a very reputable paint and body shop (Mikes Auto Body in Clearwater, right around the corner from Van Steel Corvettes) to get the paint on the front end repaired. I got a very good quote from them to fix the damaged clear coat on the ...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

The '95 Corvette went into the paint shop today to get the clear coat on the left front fender repaired and the front bumper re-painted. I am paying for it all over again as I will not take it back to that asshole at Carsmetics even if he says he will repaint it under the warranty, as I don't trust ...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

I got the "estimated" cost of the paint job. OUCH! He did say he has not seen the car and it was hard to estimate by the photos, and he is trying to give the possible worst case, although it may be lower or more than the estimate once he gets into it, and it was based on the Tri-coat version of the ...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Well, the '95 plates have been transferred to the 2001 and temp tags are now on the '95 so it can be test driven by any potential buyers. Major bummer though, now that the '95 is on Craig's list, The backup camera got stuck in reverse view, which means you cannot see the radio selection screen or th...
