Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

The actual sequence of events was 1) applied Lizardskin to help keep engine bay heat from the hood and harming the paint. 2) Due to it being too old, it did not cure. 3) Removed the bad Lizardskin. 4) Still had the condition about the high hood temperatures harming the paint as when the fans were no...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Another step closer to finishing. I completed re-installing the Lizardskin on the underside of the hood with the new, fresh material. MUCH BETTER! :willy: First I masked off the hood edges, then I covered the entire exterior to prevent any overspray of Lizardskin on the painted side. 20191102_111154...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Here is what it looks like now and what I hope it will look like when finished, except for the tires. I have black wall T/A Radials, same wheels. 20181114_124713.jpg 65 2.jpg 295_main_l.jpg It goes in the paint shop on Tuesday, and I am getting more excited every day! :Hurray: :hammer:

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Almost finished with the Lizardskin application. First 2 coats went on great! After letting it dry for several days, I will sand it a bit and apply the final thin coat to bring it up to the minimum required thickness. Will post photos then. I received a call from Mason @ Stingray Auto Body and he is...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

If you remember, I coated the underside of the hood last summer with Lizardskin to try and protect the paint on the outside of the hood from high temperatures, and it did not go on well and had to be removed. I am confident, based on other C2 Corvettes in my area that the paint can withstand the sun...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

New power window motor came Friday, just 2 days! :Hurray: Body shop said not to worry about aligning the headlights, as they were removing them anyway, so that is off my list. Tail lights go in today along with the license plate. Then the car is drivable again. With nice weather in the foreseeable f...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Great News! I found the place I bought the power window conversion kit from, it was a place called AutoCity on eBay and it came with a lifetime warranty. I found the original paperwork with the order number and most important, their phone number documented in my computer. Seems I bought it in Octobe...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

Weather is getting pretty nice during the day now, so it's back to moving the car outside and getting back to work. Yesterday's project of the day was to remove the passenger and driver's side window glass. Went to raise the glass on the driver's side so I could remove the two nuts holding it...

Re: '65 Coupe Resto-Mod and '68 Full Custom Restoration

I started the '65 and let it run for about a half an hour just outside the garage to charge the battery and to just run it, and when I touched the hood, it was reallllly freakin HOT. I raised the hood and found the engine compartment was so hot I could not touch almost anything, including the altern...
