Re: Project update

Been a while since I've been to this web site. Your remark about needing to install the driveshaft before lowering the body caught my eye. From what I recall, this shouldn't be so unless someone installed a non Corvette yoke on the transmission end, without u bolts? I just had the transmission out o...

Re: Vacuum Relays

This is what I use. Originally bought for bleeding brakes. The vacuum pump and gauge are handy for testing vacuum devices though the larger devices take a bit of pumping to build up vacuum.

Vacuum Relays

I recall seeing a posting from you on the Corvette Forum recently regarding vacuum hoses. Since our cars are of similar vintage (mine is 1970) I wanted to share my experience with vacuum relays. I noted my headlights weren't opening as fast as they used to and the wiper door was a bit sluggish. Many...

Re: Bumper installation done!

Hey Tim, I've been using the AIM quite a lot over the last few years. It took some time getting used to it. The logic behind the organization escapes me, doesn't seem to be in order of assembly or any other pattern I could find. But... it does have all the original part numbers, some assembly notes ...

Re: Bumper installation done!

If it appeared you had bonded the front clip too far to the rear, I'm wondering if you'll have issues with the hood? Are you eliminating the wiper door and grille? Wondering if the hood may wind up being shifted back toward the windshield, possibly a problem there? Is the body aligned, fore/aft on t...

Re: Windshield frame repair, 1970 Corvette

I've been using this paint when I want to seal up some metal and cover it with a very durable top coat. I found this stuff at Carlisle, early 90's. I recall the vendor had some old parts painted with this stuff. Had a hammer on hand for people to test its durability.... I've used just the primer on ...

Re: Driving with the rear window out

What did you reduce your compression to? You must have lowered it by quite a to ping even on premium. : The compression was lowered to 9.5:1 or 9.6:1 thru replacement pistons. This was done around 1985, recommendation of a local shop, make the car a bit more driveable. I hear you on the cost issue,...

Re: Windshield frame repair, 1970 Corvette

I didn't do the actual replacement since I don't have a welder nor was I confident I'd get everything square. The work was done at a Corvette shop, the fellow in a few pictures is the guy who did the work. Nice job. He had me lend a hand measuring. Took several measurements, front to back, a few dia...

Windshield frame repair, 1970 Corvette

Hole rusted through top left windshield header, interior. Looks like Bubba tried to fix it with caulk? Note the screw stub, head drilled off. No way this screw was going to budge. http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac140/RGallic/1970%20Corvette%20Windshield%20Frame%20Repair/TopLeftCornerHole-1-1.jpg...
